Check out Wait until 8 - it's a organization that urges parents to wait until 8th grade to give their children devices. As a parent of a high schooler, I'd say this is a reasonable age. Kids today will start pushing to have their own devices at 9 or 10 years old, but middle school is an absolute nightmare with them.
